Housing Inspection fee out of the blue. I called the parent company to get some clarity because my lease and the literature they distributed beforehand explicitly stated that all I needed to do was make my apartment available and they were responsible for this maintenance cost. The parent office was very surprised to hear this bill had been distributed, on colonial townhouse letterhead no less, and said not to pay and they would contact me with an explanation from the leasing office when the matter was resolved. They never called back but the charge mysteriously vanished as well. Another time, I was not nearly as lucky. I paid my rent but never got confirmation via text or email that it went through. I waited a bit and then submitted payment again so it wouldn't be late. This time I did get a confirmation. A week later I got a bill saying I had a 150 fine for a bounced rent payment. Apparently, despite their system, both charges went through and since there wasn't enough in my checking account for a double payment, the second one bounced and they charged me a fine plus their fee for a "missed/late payment". All of this instead of wondering why, AFTER THEY ALREADY HAD MY RENT, I was paying again. They were "kind" enough to only charge me 100 in the end and waive 50 dollars of the fee. This is unsurprising given their whimsical fee structure that they justify by hiding behind broad, overly vague bureaucratic language whenever challenged. It will be amusing to see how they try to explain away my experiences in their reply, fail to take responsibility for their shortcomings, probably make it all out to be my fault somehow, or at the very least make this out to all be a misunderstanding. Stay anywhere else, no matter your circumstances. The motel down the road by the mall and a shaded park bench are two examples of preferable alternatives.

We can recommend Colonial Townhouse Apartments from four years of personal experience. And happily going into year five.

Would recommend to anyone who wants to subject themselves to a unsatisfactory and predatory landlord/tenant relationship. If I could rate -5 stars I would. Miserable customer service on the part of the leasing office, apartments are older and nastier than advertised and website pictures do not accurately reflect surroundings. No ventilation in bathrooms or kitchen, water quality is poor with a bad odor. Appliances (fridge, stove) are old and the cheapest, most spartan models possible. Rather than actually renovating, they slapped hasty, sloppy coats of paint over walls, trim, tub, etc to give the apartment a passable appearance at first glance. Just one small instance of how untrustworthy and sketchy the day to day operations are, the leasing office on site tried to pass on the cost of the city

I have the 1 bedroom- Unit is nicer and more spacious than other comparable units in the area. Walking distance from grocery store, hair salon, movie theater, gym, outlet mall and other conveniences, ntm a 10 minute drive from UCONN. I've lived here for nearly 6 months now and have virtually no complaints. Perfect for a student like myself.

My mother has lived in Colonial Townhouse Apartments for four years and she has a lovely one bedroom apartment. Care and maintenance of the apartments and the grounds is excellent. The office staff is very friendly and helpful. There is a beautiful pool and large lawns. The bus accessibility is the best of any local apartments for Uconn and ECSU students; the bus stop is located right on Foster Drive. There is a picturesque park at the entrance of the apartments. Colonial Townhouse is an easy walk to stores, restaurants, groceries, banks, etc.. With heat and hot water included in the rent, it is well priced for the area.

I hope google has negative star, so I can put it here. I used the online system to pay for my rent, and I got a text message receipt. But after one month later, they told me they did not receive the money and asked me to pay for 100 extra late fees. Are you kidding me? It is the problem with your system. The bank said they never received the transfer request. So it is the communication issue from your payment system. I am not the one to maintain you payment service, and I have no idea why I need to pay extra money for their fault. At least, the office should let me know as soon as they notice that. They just waited and asked for more money. It is not cool to earn money like this way. Shame on you!!! By the way, there is one female agent who was really rude When I tried to explain the case. And she even tried to push me out of the office and threatened me to let me move out. If the management of the colonial townhouse can see this review, please ask your employee to behave politely.

Convenient place to love for students. Direct bus service to UConn.
